The video was recorded by a driver from another car. The video shows a truck bouncing wildly on the road, almost looking like it was flying, before it hits a guardrail. The truck then appears to burst into flames, with black smoke emanating from the wreckage.
Miraculously, as reported by Greensburg Daily News, both passengers of the vehicle survived and received minor injuries.
According to David Noah, a senior Indiana state trooper, the driver involved in the crash is Ryan Young of Owenton, Kentucky, who was driving a semi trailer. Young’s son was also in the truck with him.
While going eastbound on the I-74, Young apparently swerved to avoid another vehicle that was drifting into his lane. The truck ran off the south side of the highway, went up a hill, and then smashed through a guardrail. Young continued eastbound, now on the US 421, when he struck another guardrail. This was the moment caught on camera, as the fuel tank detached from the truck and exploded.
Young suffered minor facial and head injuries. His son received scratches. Both were taken to Decatur County Memorial Hospital to treat their injuries.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the crash.
