Obama’s photo after winning U.S. election most popular tweet ever

The photo shows Barack embracing Michelle, closing his eyes and smiling.

The tweet’s headline reads: Four more years. The embedded photo has been retweeted more than 440,000 times as of 1:30 a.m. ET Wednesday. Hundreds of comments flood the tweet’s page.

The previous record for the most retweeted micro-message on Twitter was 223,376 retweets for this Justin Bieber tweet.

The Obama photo has been “favorited” by more than 149,000 accounts.

Moments before posting the photo, Obama tweeted: “We’re all in this together. That’s how we campaigned, and that’s who we are. Thank you.”

Obama’s account has attracted more than 22 million followers. By comparison, Romney’s Twitter account has 1.7 million followers.
