If you get dizzy easily, be warned — this video, naturally, features a lot of spinning. The footage of Baumgartner starts around the 1:40 mark as he prepares to make his record-breaking jump.
He gets a little philosophical right before jumping, saying “Sometimes you have to get up really high to see how small you are.”
Then he jumps, and the view is breathtaking. As he plummets towards the Earth, he’s indistinguishable for a few seconds before, with a hint of panic in his voice, that he’s been in a “violent spin for a long time.” Soon after, however, he stabilizes and makes a safe descent onto his home planet.
This is the latest video in which a GoPro camera records the extraordinary. It’s been used to capture a variety of incredible footage, and the company is now trying to become a media company in addition to camera-maker.
