Digital Journal launches online project to commemorate 9/11

As we approach the 10-year anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, Digital Journal has launched a special project to help memorialize 9/11’s impact on our lives. Digital Journalists, bloggers, citizen journalists, photographers and readers are encouraged to participate from everywhere around the world to share how 9/11 impacted them.

Where were you and what were you doing on Sept. 11, 2001? Do you feel safer now than you did then? Did you lose someone close to you? What do you think about the wars that have come after? What do you think about the global war on terror? How have you, your family and friends changed over the last decade and what does the anniversary of 9/11 mean to you?

Everyone remembers that day. Everyone has a story.

Help remember 9/11 by sharing your story and memories with people from all over the world by taking part in Digital Journal’s “Remembering 9/11” project in one of the following ways:

Facebook

We have created a special Facebook Group called Remember Sept 11. On Facebook we invite you to post a comment and tell us how 9/11 impacted you and share your story.

This page will collect stories and anecdotes from people around the world who want to share how 9/11 has affected them. These stories can be quick snapshots of 9/11’s consequences and significance on your life, and anyone is free to join and participate. In the left side of the page, click the Share Your Story link to have your voice heard and read stories posted by others.

Twitter

We have created a special Twitter feed called RememberSept11 where we will Tweet new posts, photos, videos and commentary published by Digital Journalists, bloggers, citizen journalists and readers on Facebook and on Digital Journal.

Use the hashtag #remembersept11 when you Tweet.

Post news: This feature is for Digital Journalists (if you’re not yet a Digital Journalist, you can become one today to publish news and opinion articles).

We’re looking for Digital Journalists to write articles on how 9/11 has touched their lives or those around them. In a month-long series posted in our Assignments tool, we are inviting anyone from around the world to write an opinion article about how they have changed since 9/11.

What can you write about? Tell us about anyone you lost in the attacks or how you, family and friends have changed over the last decade. What does the anniversary of 9/11 mean to you? You can discuss the war on terror and post-9/11 security measures, or what safety means to you and your family.

We welcome news stories, photo stories, videos and more. If you decide to write about 9/11, please Claim the Assignment from the list of Assignments and use the tags “September 11 Anniversary” and “Sept 11“.
