Did the PostSecret website publish a Chicago murder confession?

As PostSecret does every Sunday, a new batch of anonymous secrets was uploaded on the blog, but the top secret on the page sent social media into a frenzy of anger and confusion.

A supposed secret read: “I said she dumped me but really I dumped her (body).” The confession was written atop a map pointing an arrow to where the confessor allegedly buried the body.

The map shows Wooded Island near Chicago, Illinois.

The postcard has not been verified to be true, by police or any other authority, and it’s possible PostSecret fell for a sick hoax. But Twitter and reddit users were taking this secret seriously: Several Twitter users have called police in Chicago, and reddit members created the community “sub-reddit” site PostSecretCrimeInfo to help solve the case on their own.

Almost as soon as the secret made headlines on Twitter, people expressed their outrage over PS founder Frank Warren selecting this postcard to make the cut (he receives more than 1,000 secrets weekly, and has to choose only 20 to post every Sunday).
