5 top viral videos of winter 2014-15

Snow and frigid temperatures in the Northeast, Midwest and Southeast provided the perfect backdrop to perfectly timed moments that were all captured on video. From a drunk squirrel to ‘Thundersnow,’ here are 5 videos that garnered a fair amount of attention this winter.

1. Drunk Squirrel Goes Nuts

The team that filmed this animated squirrel in their backyard thought at first that it was injured, but they quickly figured out that it ate too many fermented apples that pushed it way past tipsy. The drunken rodent’s antics had them laughing so hard that the footage is kind of shaky. We challenge you not to chuckle while watching the footage, too!

2. Boston Yeti Sightings

Someone in Boston decided to have a good time in the snow that was dumped in Boston by cavorting throughout the city dressed as a Yeti and poking a little fun at the folks that are behind all the Bigfoot sightings. Several news agencies picked up the video, and the prank spawned several YouTube videos with thousands of hits.

3. Trucker Feeds Cookie to Escaped Pig

In this video, a cute brown pig stops traffic, and a trucker steps out of his truck with a little food to give him in the way of a cookie. The trucker ultimately wishes the pig good luck as he climbs back into his rig to leave. It’s a busy road so we hope someone took the little guy in after the trucker left, or that the friendly little pig was able to find his way home.

4. Headbanging Yellowstone Buffalo

Remember the Subaru commercial where the dad finally wows his unimpressed son by driving him to see a crowd of friendly buffalo? One even comes up and calmly gazes inside the car window while the child looks out at it in wonder — no doubt that commercial spawned several nature outings to Yellowstone Park. The group in this video that decided to do the same can take comfort in the fact that it’s easy to explain that a buffalo wrecked your car to the insurance company if you catch it on video.

5. ‘Thundersnow’ Makes Jim Cantore Spastic

The next video comes from Boston, too, as The Weather Channel’s Jim Cantore gets more than a little excited about a thunderstorm that coincides with the snowstorm. During the video, he shouts out, “Yes! We got it baby!!” and geeks out as the storm intensifies off the coast of New England. You’ll wonder what all the fuss is about, but you’ll do it while smiling.
