True Lacrosse Florida Program Welcomes New Coaches, Tryout Opportunities

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL, August 04, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ — True Lacrosse is excited to announce former Florida Girls Director, Carolyn Keber, will be staying on the coaching staff and transitioning two new hires in the True Lacrosse Girls Florida program. True Lacrosse Florida is adding Coach Heather Ballew as the Florida Girls Director of Operations and Coach Elizabeth Gainer as Florida Girls State Director.

Coach Carolyn helped start the True Lacrosse Girls program over the past few seasons and fostered the foundation of a very successful budding program. The True Lacrosse Florida Girls’ High School Elite team went undefeated this summer with Coach Carolyn’s support, and the True Lacrosse Girls’ Florida program is excited for their new leadership to step in and continue the momentum of success.

“True lacrosse is really excited to welcome Coach Gainer to Florida. She comes with a wealth of knowledge and experience,” Coach Fried said. Coach Gainer played at a high level from 2005-2009 at Loyola University, Maryland. “Together, Gainer and Ballew will bring a strong presence to Florida that will continue the amazing growth of our girls’ lacrosse community.”

Coach Ballew joins the True Lacrosse team with a plethora of coaching and playing experience under her belt. She currently holds the title of head coach at Sarasota High School Varsity Girls Lacrosse and Director and coach for Gulf Coast Lacrosse non-profit recreational program in Sarasota. Before her time in Sarasota, Coach Ballew was also Head Coach at Severna Park Girls Lacrosse and Field Hockey from 2014 to 2018. She was on the Board of Directors and coached at the Bay Area Lacrosse Club from 2012-2015 and Head Coach at St. Mary’s Annapolis Girls Lacrosse and Field Hockey from 2009-2013.

Her playing experience ranges from Athena Lacrosse (competing in the World Festival), Annaplax as post-collegiate, a 4-year starter, WCLA Club President and Captain at Clemson University and held Captain spot as a Sophomore in high school at St. Mary’s, Annapolis.

Coach Gainer currently holds the title of Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach at Eastern University and is known for holding the position of Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach throughout her career. From 2016-2019 she held the position of Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach at the University of Charleston, and from 2013-2016 held the same position at Manhattan College. She also held this title at Holy Family University, where her team went on to be 2x CACC Conference Champions from 2011-2013.

Her playing experience includes NXT Philadelphia from 2020-2022. She also held the assistant women’s lacrosse coach position at Villanova University from 2010-2011 and the same position at LaSalle University from 2009-2010.

“The two bring great energy and enthusiasm to our program,” Suzanne Rich, True Lacrosse Girls’ National Director explained. “They truly are a dynamic duo who are ingrained in the lacrosse community and together they will improve our athletes’ experience while taking our program to the next level.”

Now that the summer season is done, the transition of coaches and directors is in place. Tryouts are set to take place August 7th from 8:30am-12pm (broken out by age).
