When Vita Ragoonath left her 14-year corporate job in New York City, to become a stay-at-home mom, it was a major shift in her lifestyle. Although she was grateful to be home with her kids, something was missing from her life.
Not long after, she went through a painful divorce which triggered the pain of her own childhood that was caused by an alcoholic father. It forced her to grow and learn more about herself than she ever had before and find the light and soul’s purpose within her.
As she continued on this journey of self-discovery, she realized that healing the past was an important step in finding her voice and pursuing the dreams that felt out of reach due to feelings of unworthiness.
For most of her life—childhood through adulthood—she had suppressed all of these desires, believing that they were too big for her. However, as she made the conscious decision to go after them, no matter how scared or uncertain she was, things began to slowly change for the better.
After implementing a Japanese concept called a Misogi, to increase her focus on accomplishing her dreams, her life became proof that when you take action towards your goals and dreams, even if it’s scary at first, you can awaken your soul and lead a happier life. Seeing the transformation in others who have gone through this process has only furthered her desire to share this message with those who are still suffering in silence.
Vita says if you have been struggling with similar feelings of doubt or unworthiness with regard to pursuing your dreams and passions, know that there is hope for a better tomorrow.
In order for us to create meaningful changes in our lives we must start by doing the hard work of understanding why we feel this way and then taking small steps each day towards our goals—even if those steps seem insignificant at first.
