The treatment includes both the dental implant, a small titanium screw, and the crown, a ceramic cap that simulates the appearance of a natural tooth. Patients across Auckland can now book a consultation to determine whether they are a good fit.
Natural Smile Dental explains that not everyone is a suitable candidate for dental implants. For example, people whose gums are not healthy and strong, may not be able to get implants. As such, patients should first consult their general dentist who will refer them to a dental implant specialist after a thorough assessment.
The team at Natural Smile Dental will then create a personalized treatment plan which takes into account the patient’s oral health, as well as general health – should the patient require special care due to an existing medical condition.
Once the plan is finalized, Dr Dave and his team will start the teeth replacement procedure. While an implant can be placed immediately upon the removal of the patient’s tooth, circumstances may require it to be placed at a later time. The healing period normally lasts up to six months, and a healing cap is placed over the implant for a few weeks.
The final step is replacing the healing cap with a ceramic or porcelain crown. Natural Smile Dental uses the latest CEREC technology to take pictures and build precise 3D images. Based on the 3D imaging, the CEREC software mills and cuts the new crown. The result is a permanent and functional tooth that matches the colour of the patient’s natural teeth.
