Realtimecampaign.com Discusses How to Find the Best Vinyl Plank Flooring

Hardwood floors have been a long-time favorite of homeowners. They have a warm look and feel and can match nearly every kind of home design. However, traditional hardwood flooring is expensive and prone to dents, fading, and water damage. Vinyl plank flooring is a great alternative. Keep reading and click for info to find out what to look for in vinyl plank flooring, and how to find the best product available.

Types of Vinyl Plank Flooring

According to realtimecampaign.com, basic vinyl plank flooring is a visual printed wood grain printed onto a PVC sheet. In addition to that sheet, there are several other layers, which affect the quality and comfort.

Luxury Plank Flooring (LPF) and engineer vinyl plank (EVP) do not necessarily mean the most “luxury” plank. They usually consist of three layers: a base made of vinyl and filler, a printed wood pattern layer, and a top layer that protects from scratches and staining. Usually, this type of flooring is glued down, with the planks interlocking. It is sometimes called a “floating floor”.

  • Wood Plastic Composite (WPC) flooring feels a little more like True Hardwoods since it contains wood pulp and extruded foam. It is light and sound absorbent and is usually installed with a click-locking system with no adhesive.

  • Stone Plastic Composite (SPC) flooring is similar to WPC, but it has a rigid core made of limestone. This makes it extra durable and a good choice for areas that might get extra hard use. They are also installed with a click-lock groove and do not need adhesive.

Is it Waterproof?

While all vinyl flooring is water-resistant, it is not all waterproof. Be sure to get fully waterproof flooring if placing it in the bathroom or kitchen, where there might be high humidity or frequent spills.

Residential and Commercial

Usually, the difference between residential and commercial vinyl flooring comes in the thickness of the vinyl planks. A 12-mil wear layer is usually the cut-off between residential and light commercial use. Commercial use will usually be 20-mil wear and higher. The thicker the planks, the more durable the vinyl will be. Some companies will also provide installation information, including How to get rid of lumps in vinyl flooring

Size and Design

The size of vinyl planks is usually between 6 to 8 inches wide and 36 to 48 inches long. They come in every pattern and color look imaginable, so they are sure to match any decor. When ordering, be sure to order the entire flooring in one order, or the coloring may be a bit off.

Be sure to look at whether a vinyl plank flooring is fully waterproof or not. This is a key component. No one wants to replace their flooring every few years, so consider buying flooring from a trusted and reputable company. Although vinyl plank flooring is generally inexpensive, especially compared to traditional hardwood floors, shop around before buying. There are a great many manufacturers now that are producing great products at low prices. Doing a little homework can find a perfect fit for the flooring needs in any home.
