This was the company’s advice in their recently published blog post where they warned that the hot summer sun has exposed the asphalt to temperatures beyond 90 degrees for more than 90 days, which is a primary cause of asphalt deterioration.

The Conditioning Pavement Rejuvenator (CPR™) from the PRT Group is an asphalt rejuvenator that penetrates the asphalt and replaces the lost maltenes in the original asphalt pavement in order to restore the previous qualities of ductility, viscosity, and bitumen content when the asphalt pavement was still new. CPR™ is classified both as a reactive species and reactive penetrant that is made of three-part blended chemicals, unlike the conventional asphalt rejuvenators, which are emulsion sealers.
There are a number of benefits from CPR™. This rejuvenator is applied by high production machinery that can complete 20,000 to 30,000 square yards per day. The actual costs of using the CPR™ will actually be lower for the long term because it needs to be applied less frequently.
It is important to note that the product is a penetrant and not a surface coating. This asphalt rejuvenator penetrates into the recycled asphalt pavement to plasticize or rejuvenate the asphalt binder with the goal of enhancing pavement performance and condition, and minimize expensive future cracking and repairs. Asphalt rejuvenators are suitable for asphalt pavements in airports, office buildings, shopping centers, condominium properties, hospitals, etc.
Furthermore, the CPR™ Rejuvenator requires only one coat and the application rate is one third compared to that of an emulsion sealer. Sand or additive is not needed. And because it penetrates the asphalt and is not a surface coating, it will not wear off or get washed away. It penetrates to a depth of 3/8 to 1/2 inch, protecting the asphalt pavement for four to six years, and it has a two year warranty.
