“PROJECT TAU” by Jude Austin Wins Brew Reader’s Choice Award

The first instalment of the multi-award-winning sci-fi realism “Projects” series gets another nod of approval.

REYNELLA, South Australia – 4 March, 2022 – The Chrysalis BREW Project declares “Project Tau” by Jude Austin as a BREW Readers’ Choice Award winner. “Project Tau” is one of three books chosen by a global community of readers and content creators to receive the recognition announced today.

The accolade is not Austin’s first. Before the BREW Readers’ Choice Award, she has had similar commendations. The “Projects” series is a Book Excellence Awards Finalist while its second book – “Homecoming” – has a Writer’s Digest Honorable Mention. Later on, “Project Tau” has also topped several international bestseller lists.

“Project Tau” has multiple positive reviews on Amazon, Goodreads, OnlineBookClub, and other similar book sites. “As a chaotic tale of survival and intriguing ethical conflicts, “Project Tau” by Jude Austin is a must-read for all sci-fi fans. Highly recommended!” writes the Book Excellence Awards in an official statement.

“Despite its sci-fi classification, “Project Tau” does not conform to commonly-known tropes of the genre, but occupies a niche subgenre known as sci-fi realism,” Austin states. “It’s a character-driven sci-fi with no dystopian settings, no AI or androids, and no epic space battles,” she continues as she aims for “Project Tau” to appeal to a wider reader demographic and highlights its relatability.

Published on 11 October 2016, “Project Tau” is the first book of the “Projects” series and Austin’s debut novel. It begins with Kalin Taylor, a medical freshman at Sanderson College of Arts and Science. In his quest to get into a fraternity and fit in, he sneaks into the top-security laboratory of GenTech to photograph a genetic clone. The college prank mission takes an unexpected turn. Kalin faces more mishaps than he has ever imagined.

Admitting to being a voracious reader from early childhood, Austin acknowledges the influence of Terry Pratchett and Rick Riordan on her writing. However, she asserts that “it’s more games and movies than books” when asked where she draws inspiration for “Project Tau” and her other written works. “Shining Force, Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, early Sierra games…anything from the adventure/console RPG era/genre is what really inspires me to write. It tells me that it’s okay to let my creativity run wild, because why not?” she further quips.

The sequel of “Project Tau” – “Homecoming” – has been published on 28 March 2020. The third book of the “Projects” series – “Nowhere to Hide” – is now in progress. The next two books in the series – prospectively named “The Worlds We Knew” and “Zero Hour” – are also in Austin’s plans.

“Project Tau” is currently sold on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other book retail outlets. An audiobook version is also available on Amazon Audible. Product purchase links are at https://books2read.com/Project-Tau.
