CLEARWATER, FL – PostcardMania continues to add accolades in an achievement-packed 2021, becoming the Tampa Bay Business Journal’s (TBBJ) largest marketing company of 2021 and in the same week, earned a spot on the 2021 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For in the Nation’s summer list. These come just two months after hitting the 100,000 client landmark, and the marketing-turned-tech company shows no signs of slowing down.
PostcardMania landed itself at the top of the TBBJ Largest Marketing Firms in Tampa Bay list. With rankings determined by the number of full-time local employees, PostcardMania topped the list at 311 staff, beating out the next ranked firm by 141 local employees. Marketing firms in Hernando, Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, and Sarasota counties were all considered, with a total of 41 companies being ranked. PostcardMania also found itself in the top 100 on the TBBJ’s Tampa Bay 200, which ranks the area’s largest privately-owned companies by revenue.
National accolades followed closely behind, with PostcardMania being named one of the 2021 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For in the Nation, awarded to businesses with a passion for excellence in their human resource practices and workplace culture. Organizations are assessed based on factors like communication, work-life balance, employee education, diversity, recognition, retention, more. The likes of T-Mobile and the American Academy of Pediatrics also accompanied PostcardMania on this list.
Regional awards have consistently recognized PostcardMania for decades, but in 2021 they’ve made strides on the national stage for their notable achievements. So far this year, PostcardMania has:
- Launched their tech-dedicated division PCM Integrations.
- Released Website to Mailbox, a direct mail retargeting system that doubles the industry standard for accuracy.
- Ranked 13th on Glassdoor’s nationwide list of the 2021 Best Places to Work, and was the only Florida-based business to be recognized in the small and medium company category.
These milestones almost never came to fruition after a turbulent 2020 that saw the company’s weekly earnings fall an average of 41%. As the pandemic ravaged the economy, many PostcardMania employees were left wondering if their careers were safe as businesses across the country let go of staff to survive. But this wasn’t Founder and CEO Joy Gendusa’s first rodeo; she learned some critical lessons from almost losing her company a year after the 2008 market collapse.
One of them? Making sure that payroll was covered, even before other bills. Despite abysmal earnings in March and April 2020, PostcardMania made it through the pandemic without laying off a single employee. This gamble paid off, as they added 40 more job positions after rebounding from the initial closures last year and another 40 this year, bringing their total current staff count to 315.
PostcardMania’s quick post-pandemic expansion is thanks to its tech-based initiatives, which so far have been embraced by its small business clientele. Tech is accelerating its growth — by the end of 2020, revenue was up 10%. This year, PostcardMania is up 30% so far.
