TailorMed Empowers Patients with Direct Access to Financial Assistance Through New Digital Platform

CEO Srulik Dvorsky discusses how the company's latest offering removes financial barriers and helps patients access the care they need.

TailorMed has launched a patient-facing digital experience that allows individuals to directly access and enroll in financial assistance programs across its Affordability Network. The platform addresses a critical gap in healthcare by enabling patients to independently navigate copay assistance, foundation grants, government programs, and other affordability resources while maintaining connection with their care teams.

The healthcare technology company built its reputation by creating the industry's most comprehensive Affordability Network, which has unlocked more than $5 billion in financial assistance since inception. The new solution represents a shift in strategy, moving beyond provider-focused tools to put autonomy directly in patients' hands.

Operating across more than 800 hospitals, 1,300 clinics, and 1,400 pharmacies nationwide, TailorMed's platform manages the full lifecycle of patient support programs. The company's network partners can now extend the self-service capability to their patients without adding administrative burden, resulting in faster access to therapy and improved adherence rates.

Early implementation with select partners has already helped thousands of patients independently secure vital financial assistance. The official launch signals a broader rollout across TailorMed's national network, marking what the company views as a natural progression in delivering scalable patient support.

We spoke with Srulik Dvorsky, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of TailorMed, about the challenges patients face in navigating financial assistance, the reasoning behind the patient-empowerment approach, and the future direction of the platform.

Q. TailorMed just introduced its new patient experience solution. Why did the company go down this path?

SD: At TailorMed, our mission is to eliminate every barrier that stands between patients and the care they need–from affordability to access and adherence. Since our inception, we’ve partnered with providers, pharmacies, and life science companies to build the nation’s leading Affordability Network, helping care teams connect patients to vital financial assistance and other resources.

But as the landscape has evolved, we’ve seen mounting pressures on healthcare organizations, including shrinking margins, staffing shortages, and rising administrative demands. These organizations are deeply committed to supporting patients, but they cannot scale that support by adding more workload or headcount.

We realized that to truly remove barriers, we needed to empower both care teams and the patients they serve. Our newest solution represents that evolution. It puts the power of our technology directly into patients’ hands through a simple, mobile-first digital experience that allows them to find, enroll in, and manage support programs, while keeping provider and pharmacy teams connected.

Q. Can you describe the issues patients and care teams face when trying to locate and apply for financial assistance and other resources?

SD: The U.S. healthcare system is one of the most complex in the world. That complexity can be overwhelming when it comes to accessing support programs. Thousands of programs exist—from copay assistance to foundation grants to SDOH resources—but they are fragmented, change constantly, and have different eligibility and enrollment requirements.

Many patients are unaware of what’s available or feel intimidated by the process. Often, it’s care teams who try to navigate this maze on patients’ behalf. Financial navigators, pharmacy technicians, and other staff typically spend hours searching websites, making calls, tracking spreadsheets, and filling out forms.

Our goal has always been to give care teams the tools to streamline and automate this manual, cumbersome process. Now, by offering patients a direct role, we’re taking the next step toward ensuring support is not just available, but accessible.

Q. How do these complexities impact the healthcare system as a whole?

SD: Patients who can’t access critical support often delay or abandon treatment—leading to worse outcomes and higher long-term costs. Nonadherence is estimated to cost the U.S. more than $100 billion annually due to avoidable hospitalizations, ER visits, and complications.

Providers also take on significant financial strain through bad debt and uncompensated care, while pharmacies face prescription abandonment and revenue loss. The administrative burden also leads to staff burnout and limits care teams’ ability to help those who need it most. At a system level, this results in inefficiency, inequity, and increased pressure on already overburdened organizations.

Q. Why is it important for patients to play an active role in accessing support and managing their care?

SD: Through direct patient engagement, we unlock a win for everyone: Patients become active participants in treatment and are more likely to adhere to therapy, and providers and pharmacies strengthen both outcomes and financial performance.

However, empowering patients doesn’t mean asking them to navigate their journeys alone. By enabling patients to take action—such as enrolling in or managing assistance programs—we help care teams extend their reach and focus on higher-value support. Instead of scaling staff to meet rising demand, we can scale access through technology and shared responsibility.

Q. How do you see this solution evolving? What capabilities are you planning to integrate into the patient experience?

SD: What we’ve introduced is the foundation of a much larger vision. Cost remains one of the biggest barriers to treatment, but our new patient experience will go far beyond affordability support. Over time, we plan to integrate education, proactive reminders, and holistic resources that help patients stay on therapy and navigate each step of their care.

We also see this experience evolving into a community hub, where patients can learn from one another, share real-world insights, and build meaningful connections. At the same time, care teams will remain central. Ultimately, we envision a fully connected ecosystem where all stakeholders—patients, providers, pharmacies, and life sciences—work together to remove every barrier, from cost to care.
