Sashatattooing Gallery and Sashatattooing Essential: Exploring New Horizons in the Tattoo Industry

Sasha Masiuk, known as Sashatattooing, is one of the leading figures in the tattoo industry. Starting her career 12 years ago, she became one of the first women to enter the traditionally male-dominated space of tattooing. She demonstrated that brutality and sexism should not dictate the rules of the art, opening new opportunities for many aspiring tattoo artists. Over the years, Sasha has collaborated with renowned brands such as Saint Laurent, Reebok, and HypeBeast, as well as popular artists including Adam Levine and Trippie Redd. Her work has been featured in magazines like Vogue, BAZAAR, and TATLER, among others.

Nora Lyashko, known as Nora Ink, began her career over 10 years ago and was one of the first residents of the Sashatattooing studio. Finding her unique style, she became globally recognized for her signature watercolor peonies. Over time, she has become one of the leading tattoo artists of today, collaborating with brands like Pepsi, SHEIN, Tattooed Chef, and featured in publications such as SNC, BBC, and Wonder Zine, among others.

Sashatattooing Gallery Los Angeles

In 2022, Sasha Masiuk and Nora Lyashko partnered to open the Sashatattooing Gallery studio. The spacious two-story studio is housed in a 1920s building (formerly a restaurant) located in the popular Highland Park area, where one might casually encounter Billie Eilish or Selena Gomez. As female owners reshaping the male-dominated tattoo industry, they aimed to redefine tattoo culture. Drawing from their own experiences, they created an inclusive and welcoming environment that serves as a space for experienced artists with unique styles and innovative visions from around the world. The studio concept includes not only tattooing space but also an art gallery where artists can showcase their works, inspire one another, and exchange experiences.

The studio features 13 work zones and a spacious terrace with a fireplace and ping-pong table, where artists and guests can unwind after work.

Sashatattooing Essential San Francisco

In 2023, following the successful launch of the Los Angeles studio, Nora and Sasha decided to enter a new market by opening Sashatattooing Essential in the Bay Area. They created the first studio in San Francisco that deviates from conventional standards, offering a breath of fresh air to artists in the tech-centric city.

The studio is located in a single-story warehouse building from 1985, covering over 3000 square feet in the Potrero Hill art district surrounded by creative individuals from neighboring art universities and galleries.

Original elements like roof trusses, dormer windows, and concrete floors were restored and emphasized during renovations.

The studio's goal was to create an oasis in the heart of the metropolis, choosing shades of green to evoke a sense of nature.

The studio is furnished with modern pieces from renowned designers like Mario Bellini, George Nelson, and others.

A projector on a large wall broadcasts nature videos, creating a jungle atmosphere enhanced by numerous plants, immersing visitors upon entering.

Future Plans and Goals

The goal of Sashatattooing Gallery and Sashatattooing Essential is to ensure that everyone in the tattoo spaces feels protected and calm. As female owners, Nora and Sasha strive to break stereotypes about the tattoo industry each day, providing professional and aspiring tattoo artists with an open environment for expression and discovering new avenues of inspiration and art creation.
