"Want a Happy Child? Try Emotional Intelligence", says Jomo Jesús in his Amazon bestseller Emotions Volcano

PRESS RELEASE
Published August 30, 2024

Jomo Jesus Thomas Suriel is not an ordinary 8 years old kid.  He is an avid reader of children’s fiction classics and bedtime stories on his Amazon Kindle.  While searching his Kindle,  he noticed that there were no children’s classic fiction or children's bedtime stories that had adventurous superheroes helping to teach about emotions and emotional intelligence.  He went to  Barnes & Noble and to the library, yet could not find any books..  He refused to be discouraged and decided to make his own children’s classic fiction that would entertain and educate children about big emotions and big feelings.

He wrote Emotions Volcano, creating a book about two superheroes that are siblings, Sid the Super Happy Kid and Laura the Emotions Explorers, who are focused on using emotional intelligence as their superpower to educate parents and kids on how to manage their own big emotions and big feelings.  Now the book has become an Amazon bestseller on Kindle. The book is about an explosive volcano that is disrupting young children from focusing on their math test and causing lots of chaos.  Laura and Sid are fighting to help angry and defiant children learn to regulate their emotions before the red, angry volcano erupts. The book is both a fun story and a learning story that has helped kids in preschool, kindergarten, and elementary school, as well as parents, therapists, and teachers, learn about emotional intelligence.  Jomo Jesus has a talent for explaining emotions and defiant children and explaining how to deal with tantrums and meltdowns.

The book excels at teaching children about emotional intelligence, embedding lessons in mindfulness and the principles of SEL through its captivating plot. Laura and Sid are compelling characters who demonstrate the power of a growth mindset in handling intense feelings. The action is simple yet engaging, designed to maintain the interest of young readers.

This story aligns well with children's classic literature that emphasizes emotional development, utilizing fictional scenarios to teach practical life skills. Jomo Jesus Thomas Suriel, though only eight, connects this narrative to his previous works by focusing on themes of self-awareness and emotional control. Aimed at children aged 3 to 7, the book is especially relevant and supportive. It features straightforward language and bilingual elements, broadening its accessibility to a diverse readership. The strategies it offers equip children to recognize and navigate their emotions effectively.

Jomo Jesus published three children's picture books on Emotional Intelligence to help children, especially those with Oppositional Defiant Disorder, ADHD, and autism.  He recognized that there are millions of children on the spectrum and many young children that will thrive as they learn emotional intelligence..

His books on Emotional Intelligence are now Amazon best sellers and he is unlocking his potential.  He is a polyglot and studies multiple languages: English, Spanish, Mandarin and Hebrew. He writes graphic novels and comics and he became the youngest children’s author born in the Dominican Republic to have multiple best sellers on Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing.

“A life-saver for Kids and Families. .I love having a tool to explore feelings that also doubles as a fun bedtime story. Emotions shouldn’t be confusing, and learning shouldn’t be boring. Highly recommend!”

Quote from a book review by Cate Hogan, best-selling Washington Post, USA Today developmental book editor.

“Use this fun story to teach all children including neuro diverse learners, about big emotions and feelings and the importance of mindfulness, self-awareness, self-empowerment, mindfulness behavioral zones of self-regulation, and anger management,” said Sandra Maria Clifton, the editor of the Emotions Volcano.

Jomo Jesus has two upcoming children’s emotional intelligence books for the series Sid the Super Happy Kid and Laura the Emotions Explorer, titled “The Angry Vacuum” and “Critical Critters.”
