Applebee’s® franchisee, Doherty Enterprises, Inc., announced today that Tanya Lindenberg, a bartender and server at its Lindenhurst, NY restaurant location, has been recognized as an Applebee’s Hometown Hero.

Lindenberg is being recognized for her extensive volunteer work and community impact on the lives of those in her local community over the years. A member of the Lindenhurst PTA for more than 18 years, she’s involved in coaching both soccer and little league while also playing a pivotal role as Fundraising Chair for the Lindenhurst High School Marching band.

Over the years she has remained a supporter of the Boy Scouts of America where each of her four sons is an active member, three of whom have already earned the level of Eagle Scout.

“We are proud of Tanya not only for the work she does in the community but for the programs she has initiated at the restaurant, including a highly effective peer recognition program,” said Kurt Pahlitzsch, VP of Operations at Doherty Enterprises. “We couldn’t be more thrilled that her efforts have been recognized from a pool of applicants throughout the United States with this special Applebee’s honor

Established in 2019, Applebee’s Hometown Hero program recognizes restaurant Team Members throughout the United States who exemplify exceptional service as a good neighbor, teammate, and friend – even when faced with adversity. They go above and beyond to provide selfless service to the community. By making a positive impact on those around them, Hometown Heroes improve the neighborhood and the culture in their restaurant.

Each year on Veterans Day – one of the busiest days of the year at Applebee’s restaurants nationwide – Tanya organizes a group of scouts to help out at the Lindenhurst Applebee’s . The scouts make Thank You cards for the Veterans and walk around the restaurant greeting people, thanking them, and listening to their stories, while active-duty military and Veterans enjoy a free meal in appreciation for their service. The local veterans who visit enjoy seeing the young people involved and it makes their guest experience at Applebee’s that day all the more meaningful.

“It’s a true honor to be recognized as an Applebee’s Hometown Hero,” said Tanya Lindenhurst. “But I couldn’t do half of this without the support of my neighbors, local school and government leaders, and the incredibly giving team here at our restaurant.”
