Houston, United States - August 21, 2023 / Heather Fleschler DDS, FAGD, LVIF /

Invisalign treatment in Houston, TX, can be an amazing method of tooth correction that gives you the flexibility you need. Being able to eat what you want, take them off when you need to, and get the same level of tooth correction as braces is overly convenient. However, while there are all these wonderful benefits, you should still consider a few things about this treatment before getting it done. Continue reading to find out more about Invisalign and the important factors we think you should consider here at Heather F. Fleschler, DDS, FAGD, LVIF.

Responsibility

While all the benefits of Invisalign are very alluring, do keep in mind that they can be overly tempting at times. Knowing that you can remove your teeth correction device at any time can lead to an excessive amount of time not wearing it. This is meant to be an adaptable solution for individuals who want to show their smile without braces during important events and those that play high-contact sports. There are others as well, but those are the two most common types of individuals that this treatment benefits. But you have to be cautious and responsible in ensuring that you take your clear aligners out when needed and put them back in immediately after. Also, you need to make sure you keep a close eye on them. With younger individuals, weve heard all manner of stories of young adults digging through the trash as they put their Invisalign on their paper plate and tossed it all together.

Is Not a Blanket Solution

While Invisalign has almost all the same benefits as braces, this is only true for tooth correction. If there is a serious overbite or underbite in place, these clear aligners will not help adjust it whatsoever. Furthermore, with severe tooth corrections, it may be better or more optimal to have metal braces. Its all on a case-by-case basis and will be discussed with us here at Heather F. Fleschler, DDS, FAGD, LVIF, during your consultation. So we love enthusiasm and interest in this treatment but keep in mind that it may not be in your best interest overall. Though that typically is a rarity.

May Still Need a Retainer After

The correctional benefits of Invisalign are profound, but a retainer being needed after is something that is typically necessary. A retainer being needed after normal braces or Invisalign has very little to do with either type of treatment, it simply is about maintaining the improvements after the fact. Again this will be discussed in our consultation together, but dont think youre free from a retainer just because you go with Invisalign.

We hope this info helps you make an informed decision about this type of treatment, and we look forward to hearing from you here at Heather F. Fleschler, DDS, FAGD, LVIF. So, if you need a dental office in Houston, TX, were only a call away at 713-660-6500.
