Anaheim, California - Anaheim Lighthouse, a leading addiction treatment center in Orange County, continued its tradition of hosting the annual Lighthouse Alumni Friendsgiving event. The event, held at the Lighthouse campus, provided a safe and supportive space for alumni to come together and celebrate their sobriety journey.
Peter Davidson, President of the Lighthouse said that the Friendsgiving event serves as a testament to the community and support system provided by the Lighthouse to its clients. By bringing together individuals who have overcome addiction, the gathering promotes a sense of belonging and gratitude for the attendees.
"Thanksgiving holds a special meaning for those in recovery. It is a time to reflect on how far we have come and the positive changes we have made in our lives. It is a reminder to be thankful for the support and love received from our sober community, and to continue embracing a life of health, happiness, and sobriety. I believe that our Friendsgiving event at the Lighthouse signifies the strength and resilience of our alumni community. As we come together to celebrate sobriety and express our gratitude, we are reminded of the joy and fulfillment that recovery brings," said Davidson.
The Friendsgiving event at the Anaheim Lighthouse was a heartwarming display of camaraderie and support. Members of the alumni program and Lighthouse staff enjoyed a delicious meal together, shared stories, and bonded, creating a sense of unity and gratitude. The testimonials from members of the alumni program who attended the event further highlight the transformative role Anaheim Lighthouse plays in people's lives.
John L.,an alumni program member, shared that Thanksgiving usually brings up memories of a huge meal at home surrounded by friends and family. However, struggling with addiction was isolating and made holidays tough on him. Now in sobriety, he has found new family and friends through the Lighthouse program.
"What an absolute delight to spend Thanksgiving with others who are traveling the same road to recovery that I am. We watched the game, blessed the food, ate together and I, with other volunteers, cleaned up. The Lighthouse gave me my sobriety, sanity, friends, family, and a reason to keep living clean and sober. It is such a blessing to be able to serve others and the Lighthouse gives us the opportunity to do just that," John shared.
Maria B., another attendee, described the importance of the Lighthouse Alumni Program in her recovery journey, "The Lighthouse Alumni Program has been a cornerstone to my success in recovery. Events like our recent Friendsgiving create opportunities to connect, receive needed support, and be of support to others on their sober journey. I truly believe without this program, I would not be here today."
Anaheim Lighthouse’s commitment to providing a supportive and nurturing environment for individuals in recovery is evident through its various programs and events. The goal is to gather its alumni program members and show them that they can lead fun and fulfilling lives now that they are sober.
The annual Friendsgiving event serves as a reminder of the power of community and gratitude in sustaining long-term sobriety. As the tradition continues year after year, Anaheim Lighthouse remains committed to helping individuals overcome addiction and celebrate the gift of sobriety with open arms, love, and support. It provides a safe and welcoming space for individuals to come together, reflect on their journey, and give thanks for the endless possibilities that recovery brings.
