Published January 12, 2024

Resilient Film Studios, a global, premium, independent film production company, is proud to announce the latest addition to its team of filmmakers and storytellers – Alex Chionetti, an award-winning journalist, explorer, and filmmaker with scores of successful media projects under his belt.

A consulting producer for the pilot and several seasons of Ancient Aliens, Alex’s documentaries have been broadcast on Fox, NBC, A&E, The History Channel, The SyFy Channel, and other international networks. He is also the discoverer of two lost cities in the Andean region and a member of the Explorers Club.

Born in Argentina and now a resident of New York City, he immigrated to the United States to continue his studies at different schools, including MIT, USC, and UCLA. Early on, he worked with legendary filmmaker Roger Corman. His research life ever since has been devoted to lost civilizations, extraterrestrial visitations in both past and present times, and solving scientific enigmas. He was a disciple of the late Dr. Joseph Allen Hynek, the pioneer astronomer who was part of “Project Blue Book” and coined the term “Close Encounters of the Third Kind.” Dr. Hynek considered Chionetti to be “the most active field researcher I knew”.

This brought Alex to be a consultant to Steven Spielberg’s films “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” and the 40th-anniversary rerelease of “Close Encounters”, the latter being where he introduced the topic to new generations. He was also an important factor in the creation and broadcast of the series based on Hynek’s story, brought to audiences as nonfiction by The History Channel in 2016.

As a global explorer, Alex Chionetti, Film Maker has devoted almost 30 years to field research, including three expeditions to a system of caves in the Amazon that present evidence of advanced ancient civilizations. In a recent search for the fabled “Gold Library” of Ecuador, he was attacked by Shuar Indians who used to be headhunters. He and his guards, comprised of Special Forces of the national police, fled for their lives under spear, dart, and shotgun fire, earning him the reputation as the “true Indiana Jones.”

As film distributor Alex introduced many independent filmmakers to the Latino American theatres and home elvideo, international directors, as Roland Emmerich, Gus Van Sant, Phillip Mora, Allison Anders, Brian Singer, Steven Sorderbergh, Matthew Vaughn, Bigas Luna, David Cronnemberg, Paul Verhoeven, etc.

In his best credits are listed as box office successes: “Like Water for Chocolate” (which broke records in Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay y Chile), “Sex, Lies and Videotape” ,”The Mask” (with Jim Carrey), “Mystic Pizza” (Samuel Goldwyn Distribution)”,Johnny Mnemonic “(Keanu Reeves) ,”One false Move”,” Dead Ringers”, “Naked Lunch”, “Crash”, ” Trainspotting”, ”Moon 44”,etc.

During the last decade, Alex has discovered two pre-Incan cities in the Central Sierra of Peru never previously recognized by official archaeology. Exploring the Chilean high desert, he found figures and lines related to the Nazca lines. Not limited to the Americas, Alex has also made historic discoveries in Europe related to famous deceased rulers such as Alexander the Great and explorers such as Marco Polo and Christopher Columbus.

As an editor and contributing editor, his work includes hundreds of articles and scientific essays published in newspapers and specialized magazines in several languages. He is the author of the cult book “Mundos Paralelos (Parallel Worlds),” “Ovnis, La Confrontacion Final (aka “Ovnis en Argentina), “UFOs: The Final Confrontation”, “Proyecto Libro Azul: Declasificado (Project Blue Book: Declassified)”, “The Magnificent 12 (Los Doce Magnificos)”, “Mysteries of the Tayos Caves (distributed by Simon & Schuster)”, and, coming next year, “The Plateau of the Gods”, and “La Odisea de los Tayos.”

Alex Chionetti, Author, has a deep expertise in Latin American, Spanish, and Italian research venues, plus an intimate knowledge of global distribution of quality entertainment content, and a strong relationship with theatrical chains, independent cinemas, TV stations, and media conglomerates, including radio and newspapers.

Alex was one of the original team members and developers of the “Ancient Aliens” pilot and its first seasons in which original ideas based on his research were used to create episodes such as “Mysterious Worlds.” Here, he brought to American audiences for the first time subjects such as the “Zone of Silence in Mexico,” “The Markahuasi Plateau,” and “The Amaru Muru Door”, both in Peru. Later, in “Underground Aliens,” he brought the mysteries of the “Cave of Tavos,” for the first time on American television with the thrilling topic of the metal library. A few of his contributions were also used in the remaining seasons.

Recently, Alex was asked to design a six-hour episodic series for The Discovery Channel about lost treasures such as the “Spear of Domain,” and similar archaeological riddles in the South American jungles. Currently, he’s developing Spanish-language content for National Geographic Channels as well as the current joint venture between Warner Discovery and The Explorers Club. He is also organizing an expedition to find a sunken 19th-century vessel in the Atlantic and is proudly represented globally for publishing, film, radio, and TV exclusively by his Agency BjbPresents and Resilient Films Studios LLC.

The founding partner of Resilient Films Studios LLC, Betty Jo Butler, welcomed Alex to the team by saying, “Alex’s knowledge and experience in all things alien and mysterious have intrigued generations of children and adults in the United States who have undoubtedly seen his work on television or film. By welcoming Alex to our humble operation, we are ready to create cinematic masterworks that will reflect his passion and subject matter expertise and make for exciting new media experiences.”
