Chicagoan and 2023 World Championships silver medalist Shamier Little to attend and offer insights to youth competitors

Nov. 9, 2023 / PRZen / CHICAGO -- BOWA Gives Girls' Invite, a track and field competition for Chicago area girls 5–18 years old, will be held Nov. 18 and 19 at the Dr. Conrad Worrill Track and Field Center at Gately Park in Chicago's Pullman neighborhood.

Registration is now open for the two-day competition, which is hosted by non-profit BOWA Gives in conjunction with the Chicago Park District and its Girls P.L.A.Y. initiative, and sponsored by Mondo.

Throughout the first annual event, the young athletes will have opportunities to connect with former female student-athletes and current professional female athletes, including Chicagoan and 2023 World Championships silver medalist in the 400m hurdles Shamier Little and Olympian and Big Ten champion Anavia Battle, to gain personal insights and lessons learned during their athletic careers.

The competition on Saturday, Nov. 18, is slated for 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Sunday, Nov. 19, from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Dr. Conrad Worrill Track and Field Center at Gately Park is at 10201 South Cottage Grove Ave. in Chicago and features a Mondo hydraulic banked track with the company's Super X 720 surface. Sponsors in addition to Mondo include BOWA Construction, Gatorade, Related Midwest and Under Armour.

This meet follows BOWA Gives' first successful track & field event, Race to Gately, which also was held at Gately Park, in December 2022, and will be the non-profit's first girls-only track and field meet dedicated to elementary through high school student-athletes.
