AKCP Monitors General Electric Aerospace

PRESS RELEASE
Published February 29, 2024
AKCP, the world's oldest and largest manufacturer of SNMP enabled environmental, power and security monitoring products for the data center and server room provide environmental monitoring for General Electric (GE) Aerospace, Australia.

Feb. 29, 2024 / PRZen / PERTH, Australia -- GE Aerospace, Australia, have been utilizing AKCP monitoring solutions in their facilities for 12 years. Temperature and Humidity sensors are deployed in three locations where environmental monitoring is essential. GE Aerospace must comply with regulatory requirements to monitor the temperature and humidity for a number of activities:
  • Storage of components that require specific temperature and/or humidity such as paints and fiber composite materials
  • Repair and overhaul of avionics equipment that must be carried out within specified temperature and/or humidity
  • Server room management of temperature and humidity
At the primary GE Aerospace site in Australia there are 7 sensors installed in the facility.
  1. Server Room
  2. Spare Parts Storage
  3. Battery Repair Room
  4. Solder Bench
  5. Propeller Repair Clean Room
  6. Avionics Repair Room
  7. General Avionics Workshop
Two further sites used for the repair of military aircraft are also installed with sensors for the storage and work areas for the avionics and propellers.

The GE Aerospace ERP software communicates with the AKCP sensors via SNMPV3, collecting data every 30 minutes. The ERP then stores the temperature and humidity values for all sensors. This data is essential for regulatory compliance. The FAA may audit at any time for proof that the temperature and humidity conditions were in range when repairs were completed.

All sensors are connected with the AKCP sensorProbeX+ base unit. This sensor monitoring device is available in customizable configurations with the number of sensor ports, dry contacts, mini relays, A2D convertors you need. In the GE Aerospace installation an SPX+ with 8 sensor ports was deployed. Later an additional 8 sensor ports were required and a Basic Expansion Bus (BEB) unit was added.
