Rattling a long list of statistics showing the further expansion of the Church of Scientology in South Africa in 2023, the President of the Church of Scientology, Gaetane Asselin, points fingers towards some of their most stellar statistics the Church produced in 2023, claiming over 748 skills development workshops held at the Castle Kyalami - which brought over 1500 chaplains, social workers and emergency responders, 850 agriculture managers, over 6500 educators, police officers and many more for collaborative efforts to combat societal issues. And to start the new 2024 year, the Church has contributed to over 25,000 South Africans who have received some skills development training due to the Church's intervention to upskill individuals.

One of the points of pride for Asselin is how so many groups then get established to help their communities now that they have practical tools to effectively assist. Amongst others, she says 961 schools are now applying the Study Technology of L. Ron Hubbard that they have learned which assisted them to improve their results, help learners read for meaning and empowered more than 166,000 individuals - students as well as educators.

"It is hard not to have tears of joy when one hears teenagers who had dropped out of schools - or were about to - coming back with even more enthusiasm as they now know how to study and the "Reading for a Meaning" lessons rekindled their purpose to learn," said Asselin. "And so it did for numerous educators who, seeing how they can really make a difference in the lives of their learners, even worked after hours to provide learner support," added Asselin.

Another long-awaited project, very dear to the President and Scientologists the nation-wide, was the grand opening of its first substance abuse treatment center called Narconon (for Narcotic-Non) in Rustenburg. Attended by over 1600 people on 30 December, Asselin felt it was a fantastic way to end the year. "This will further allow us to assist more people, in particular those who are trapped with problems of drugs and alcohol," added Asselin.

The President of the Church concluded by saying that the year 2024 is lined up for even more expansion and exciting activities.
