Krestnikov first touched down in the USA in 2018, a much-welcome change of setting for the chef who had worked all over Moscow and Sochi. One of Krestnikov's biggest passion projects pops off every Sunday with the Miami BBQ Party. Krestnikov started organizing these events back in Moscow for fun. He made almost no profit from them but kept hosting them because people loved them and kept coming back. As the weeks passed, the barbecues got bigger and bigger and he started inviting local musicians to come and further entertain his beloved audience.
He brought these parties across the pond and started where he left off hosting them in Miami. He took inspiration from the fact that many restaurants that host food and music parties have exorbitant prices. Krestnikov's plan was to start holding parties with the same atmosphere but for a fraction of the price.
"When I got to Miami I was shocked by the prices of local restaurants. I was constantly comparing them to Sochi where I lived before. I knew I had to make something with a relaxed atmosphere that didn't break the bank for guests. We needed a place where people could kick back for a couple of hours care-free, and thus Miami BBQ Party was born."
Krestnikov also strives to keep his meals affordable and offers a price-tier menu for his BBQ parties and event catering to accommodate all budgets. Ingredients are always locally-sourced and fresh. Chef Alex loves connecting with his fellow countrymen at the parties, as Russian speakers make up a large percentage of attendees. However, all are welcome at Miami BBQ Parties!
"It's really cool to hang out in a foreign land with your own people while also mixing with locals. These parties kill two birds with one stone as they can be equal parts social and networking. The price is naturally a huge draw- we just assemble all the ingredients the day of the event and get to work grilling. People come back time and time again, some even saying they get high off the taste of my food."
