Dmitry, thank you for joining us today. Could you start by sharing with us the motivations behind founding Alcor?

Dmitry Ovcharenko: Absolutely. In my previous roles at various tech companies, I saw many shared challenges. Plenty of top managers were spending a significant amount of time on operational management, such as hiring, handling finance and legal issues, and office maintenance. I saw that these activities were demotivating for them, and their ambitious business plans were being put on hold. I realized that, with my tech experience and business operations expertise, I could help thousands of such managers in IT companies. This realization was the genesis of Alcor.

It sounds like a huge responsibility to tackle. Could you describe how Alcor specifically addresses these challenges?

Dmitry Ovcharenko: Alcor is a recruitment service provider focusing exclusively on tech positions for IT product companies. We assist businesses in hiring their own development teams, particularly in Poland, Romania, and other Eastern European countries. We leverage our local market experience to source talent, with access to over 600,000 IT professionals.

Your focus on Eastern Europe is interesting. Why this particular region?

Dmitry Ovcharenko: Eastern Europe is a goldmine of tech talent. The region boasts a high number of highly skilled IT professionals. By focusing on these markets, we can help IT companies tap into this rich talent pool.

But that's not it. In this area, you can find over 400 research and development centers including important brands like Samsung, Ericsson, Boeing, Siemens, and Oracle.

We also need to keep in mind the possibility to save money. One of the great things in the IT industry is that working remotely it's perfectly viable, particularly since the creation of client management and workflow organization apps. Google Meets, Zoom, and Skype are also great tools for keeping smooth communication within a team. In this context, it makes much more sense to hire employees in an area with lower income rates. This becomes a win-win situation because the workers are getting a high salary while companies reduce costs. Finally, this helps consolidate international bonds between different teams thus enriching the cultural reach of the product that's being developed. Another reason why we choose central Europe is because it has a convenient time zone. For example, a person living in Warsaw can communicate perfectly with people in London or Berlin and still make ends meet when meeting online with colleagues in Latin America or the United States. Traveling distances are also very convenient as central Europe is only a couple of hours away from Paris, Madrid, or Bucharest.

Could you explain more about your recruitment services?

Dmitry Ovcharenko: Sure. Our recruitment services are quite comprehensive. We take care of the entire process from identifying potential candidates to conducting interviews, ensuring a good cultural fit, and eventually onboarding the new hires.

You also offer recruitment process outsourcing. How does that work?

In recruitment process outsourcing, we essentially act as an extension of our client's HR department. We manage the entire recruitment lifecycle on their behalf, allowing them to focus on their core business activities.

How do you manage possible legal conflicts or misunderstandings of this kind?

Dmitry Ovcharenko: We have a service that we call "local navigation and support", we help our clients understand and navigate the local business and regulatory landscape. We assist with issues like local legal compliance, understanding cultural nuances, and managing the local office. At the end of the day, our main responsibility at Alcor is to make things easy for the company management so we want to avoid all possible legal issues that may arise from simply ignoring the legislation.

Can you please describe Alcor's services?

At first, the client will be assigned a key account manager that will provide support while working closely with the recruitment team. In only one day we prepare an array of CVs for the client to review and five days later we send all the available verified candidates. Our team submits weekly reports showing the interactions between our staff and the candidates. In other words, the client will receive updates on the interviews that took place that week along with further recommendations. The best of it all is that we have plenty of experience in the IT industry so we can quickly spot the talent that's needed for a certain project.

Can you provide an example of one of your most successful cases?

One of our best cases is actually described on our website and it involves a US-based IT company that offers fraud management and detection solutions. Based on AI and machine learning it provides businesses with safe access to services like online purchases and post reviews. In only one year and a half, we've been able to help them by hiring 20 people having expertise in various programming languages.

What achievements specifically make you proud?

My best achievement is definitely Alcor since it's a business that I created based on my own experience and knowledge. With this success came many other achievements like, for example, being awarded at TOP USA. For those who don't know it, this is an event that takes place in the heart of Manhattan and its main purpose is to honor Ukrainian-American entrepreneurs.


Looking ahead, what's the future of Alcor? Where do you see your company in the next five years?

Dmitry Ovcharenko: We envision Alcor as the go-to recruitment service provider for IT product companies looking to build development teams in Eastern Europe. We're also planning to extend our footprint to other tech-rich regions and continue growing our talent pool.

All in all, Dmitry teaches us how to leverage one's skills to offer a product of value. In this case, Alcor is more than a service, it's a solution that helps managers lighten the burden of recruiting tasks so they can focus on what matters: product development.
