Who is Sapiyossi?
Sapiyossi, “Pseudonym” Jonatão Katchitetele Eliseu, is a multi-faceted Angolan artist residing in Brussels, Belgium. Besides being a singer and composer, he also performs as a dancer, choreographer, and legal representative of Kuduro in Europe. Sapiyossi serves as an ambassador for the NGO LINÁLIA and possesses digital music distribution skills, including website and graphic design.

Sapiyossi attended the VUB Vrije Universiteit Brussel in the Department of Languages and Literatures (2019-2020), successfully acquiring proficiency in six languages: Portuguese, Umbundu, French, English, Spanish (primary) and Dutch (primary).

Born during a tumultuous period of civil war on a military base called RM 93 in Angola, Sapiyossi is the son of Excellency Mr. Eliseu Fadário Kapitango and Mrs. Benita Jonatáo. He is the proud father of three children: Benita Caetano Jonatão, Alberto Caetano Jonatão, and Etóssi Barbier Jonatão.

Sapiyossi’s passion for music was awakened at 10 (1997). His initial recordings, made with improvised instruments on cassettes between 1997 and 2000, paved the way for his professional debut at DJ Nelinho’s studios on February 12, 2007. He performed his national stage debut at Cine Kilumba on December 29, 2007.

With the advent of peace, Sapiyossi decided to use music as a tool to spread messages of peace, love, freedom and hope, transforming art into a source of comfort and healing for those still recovering from the conflict.
