On July 30, 2025, inside Boxr Gym, Miami, I stepped onto the mats not just as a professional fighter and trainer, but as an instructor helping bridge the gap between combat sports and real-world protection. Alongside another coach and the gym owner, we led a hands-on training session for the Miami-Dade School Police Department—focusing on practical, no-nonsense techniques officers can use when they don’t have access to a weapon.
This class was more than just another session—it was the start of an ongoing program designed to sharpen the skills of those who protect our schools every day.
My professional home—Boxr Gym and Kill Cliff FC—is where high performance meets high stakes. I train multiple professional fighters for major promotions including the UFC, creating fight camps that demand peak conditioning, technical precision, and mental sharpness.
The same principles I use to prepare world-class fighters apply seamlessly to police work:
The July 30th session for Miami-Dade School PD was built around realistic, applicable combat scenarios—not theory. We concentrated on:
By keeping the training hands-on, we ensured officers experienced the physicality and resistance they would face in real life.
The response from the Miami-Dade School Police Department was overwhelmingly positive. They saw the immediate value of combat-sport-based training for law enforcement, particularly in situations where verbal de-escalation fails, and no weapon is available.
Because of this success, we decided to continue the program—training future police officers to be better prepared for volatile encounters. This continuity ensures skills become second nature, not just remembered concepts.
In both the octagon and in the field, preparation is the difference between success and failure. For fighters, it’s about victory. For officers, it can mean safety—for themselves and the public. By blending my experience as a professional fighter and coach with law enforcement needs, we’re creating a safer, more capable community.
This is just the start. As we move forward, I plan to:
Whether it’s a UFC contender or a police recruit, the goal is the same—build confidence, skill, and readiness for whatever comes next.
