Texas Bolt Manufacturer Breaks World Record With Gigantic Hex Nut
Humble, Texas, December 11, 2023 -- Patriot Bolt and Fastener, a Texas-based industrial fastener company, has built the world's largest hex nut on a mission to claim a new Guinness World Record for the largest hex nut. The gigantic nut, nicknamed "Big Tex the Incredible Hex," stands 16 feet tall and 19 feet wide.
Houston-based JK Welding crafted the enormous nut to strict specifications set by Patriot Bolt. The previous record holder was a hex nut located in Komenda, Slovenia, which measured 11.8 feet tall by 13.6 feet wide and was built in May 2020.
"Everything is bigger in Texas, so it just made sense to claim this record," said Patriot Bolt's CEO and founder, Kris Kolb. The Patriot Bolt team worked closely with the exceptional fabricators at JK Welding to create something truly monumental.
The hex nut was installed on December 8 at Patriot Bolt's facility in Humble, TX. Weighing approximately 8,500 pounds, Big Tex features Patriot Bolt's name on top and "Made in Texas" branding underneath.
While Big Tex is fully functional, with a 10-foot opening, it will live on permanent display at Patriot Bolt and Fastener and be a testament to the company's Texas-sized ambitions.
"It was an honor to work on such a monumental project that can make a footprint in Houston," said John King, owner of JK Welding. "We helped bring the world's largest hex nut home to Texas."
Patriot Bolt has applied to Guinness World Records for official certification. Once approved, the nut will be the world's largest hex nut.
