While there was a time when veneers, at least, were 'reserved' for Hollywood stars, this is rapidly changing - with veneers becoming a 'necessity' for influencers, and by extension, the generations of Millennials and Gen Z who relate to these modern-day celebrities, or aspire to be influencers themselves. Dr. Austin understands that this means many individuals in their 20s and early 30s are now looking to improve their smiles with veneers and other cosmetic treatments, and as such, is offering professional advice on smile makeovers.

"Created for those eager to enhance their smile's charm with straighter teeth, this comprehensive resource offers valuable insights," says Dr. Austin. "If you are considering moving your teeth with orthodontic techniques or exploring cosmetic dentistry options, this book will guide you to a confident and captivating smile."

Porcelain veneers - which brought about the famous 'Hollywood Smile' - are custom-made thin shells that fit over natural teeth, transforming the appearance of the smile, says Dr. Austin. This cosmetic treatment can be used to correct a variety of aesthetic issues: tooth discolorations, chipped teeth, smile gaps and crooked teeth, uneven or oddly shaped teeth, and gummy smile. However, porcelain veneers are not recommended to those whose dental issues go beyond mere aesthetics; patients with gum disease, moderate or severe tooth decay, and missing teeth are not good candidates for veneers.

Similarly, mild to moderate teeth misalignment - such as overbite, underbite, crossbite, and crowding - cannot be fixed with veneers. Instead, Dr. Austin recommends clear aligners. Unlike traditional braces, clear aligners are removable, which means improved comfort, easy maintenance, and no dietary restrictions.

While there are many benefits - and some drawbacks - to both treatments, Dr. Austin believes that the main thing people should know is that veneers are irreversible, as the enamel needs to be shaved off, while clear aligners have their limitations, as they cannot be used to fix major misalignment, and will not provide 'instant' results like veneers.

A full breakdown of both procedures, details on the ideal candidates, cost analysis, and more can be found in Dr. Austin's book, which is available on Kindle and paperback.

For over 25 years, Dr. Catrise Austin has worked with A-list celebrities, including the female rap icon Cardi B. Dr. Austin is also the host of the 'Let's Talk Smiles' podcast, and was featured on NBC, ABC, and more.
