Betty Johansen believes that while many Christian readers love the thrill of a whodunit novel, they are often put off by the violence, coarse language, immorality and sense of nihilism in 21st-century crime novels.
That's why she is pleased to be giving thrilling yet ultimately wholesome Christian mystery novels a bigger platform and audience with her new combined reviews and character guides.
In these new downloadable packages, she is offering readers of her blog an insightful review of some of the most significant new Christian novels and a comprehensive list of all the main and side characters in each novel. She hopes that by including this extra tool, her followers will have a much more enjoyable experience of the book and all its twists, turns and red herrings.
"Because there are often so many characters in a mystery novel, I began making lists of characters, reminding myself of how they fit into the story. This meant that as the story progressed, I had a better understanding of the plot with all its intrigues," said Betty. Now, alongside my new reviews, I have included a downloadable character list for each."
