Angleton Premier School Chaplains To Boost Local Community Building Launched

School chaplains are now able to work in public and private institutions in the state of Texas, and the National School Chaplain Association trains and accredits certified chaplains with a suitable skill-set to work in elementary, middle, and high schools. Now, as a part of their ongoing community outreach work in Texas, the National School Chaplain Association is specifically reaching out to the heads of schools and school districts in and around Angleton, who feel their school is in need of additional support.

At a time of unparalleled challenges facing children and teenagers in American schools, including high rates of bullying and cyberbullying, threats of gun violence, profound anxiety and depression, gender confusion, and more, the National School Chaplain Association has seen that chaplains can play a vital role.

As the association explained, "Suicide, anxiety, and depression have reached epidemic levels in US schools. Chaplaincy has been proven to dissipate tension, resolve conflict, and bring hope."

Within a school community, a school chaplain can create a safe space in which students can come for non-judgmental support, empathetic listening and empowering advice. In a state with a significant dearth of mental health support services, a school chaplain can be a powerful ally to schools in improving emotional wellbeing, not only amongst students but also among teachers and parents.

Because certified school chaplains with the National School Chaplain Association are trained to be far-reaching in their approach, they will engage with all members of a school community and provide support at every level.
