LA JOLLA, CA / ACCESSWIRE / January 17, 2024 / On December 12th, 2023, Dr. Roger Kasendorf. a prominent pain management physician in LaJolla, along with his wife Sarah, a pediatric occupational therapist and author, hosted an event on behalf of "VOICES FOR CHILDREN," an advocacy organization that provides financial and other needed support to the Court Appointed Special Advocate program (CASA).

CASA offers qualified representation to children in foster care who have experienced abuse and neglect. CASA advocates apply their special training and skills, coordinating their efforts with social workers, caregivers, attorneys, and other professionals, to help navigate the challenges of court hearings, new homes and schools, and any other situation for which assistance may be required by their juvenile clients.

The theme for the gala event, held at The Butcher Shop restaurant in Kearny Mesa, was "Goodfellas Casino and Buffet." The dinner featured casino gambling tables (where players played for raffle tickets), professional body painting by artist Lana Chromium, and a selection of hit songs made popular by Frank Sinatra (sung by aspiring actor and vocalist Benjamin Kasendorf). The food, the service, and the entertainment were outstanding. Restaurant Manager Claudia helped ensure that everything ran smoothly.

Raffle prizes were donated by local vendors. Attendees included attorneys, business owners, physicians, and community leaders. The event, in addition to raising much-needed funds for CASA, served as a networking opportunity for local business owners to meet and support this good cause.

Sponsors of the event included recent graduates of the San Diego School for Creative and Performing Arts (SDSCPA). Benjamin Kasendorf, Sophia Laos, and Angie Lopez donated their time and artistic talent to help in the setup and design of the event. Johnny Noguira, a sophomore at University City High School, assisted with ticket sales.

The event was a huge success. Not only were enough funds raised to support multiple CASAs for an entire year, but several attendees became so touched that they decided to become CASAs themselves. Additionally, it was a great opportunity for networking among San Diego-based businesses.
