Los Angeles, CA, USA - February 13, 2023 - Uzo Chijioke, pharmacist by day, author by night, accomplished what few do – write and publish a graphic novel. Chijioke, who also had a career in management consulting, published “A Tale of Renown: Volume One” to rave reviews, which is available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and various book retailers. “By day, I'm a STEM guy, but by night I'm a creative. I do comedy sketches on social media and also write graphic novels and screenplays,” Chijioke says. “I think my comfort in wearing multiple hats comes from my Nigerian heritage and serving ten years in the US Army. When I was in school at the University of Maryland and Howard University, writing wasn’t even on my radar, but I’m glad I’ve taken steps to hone this talent.”

Chijioke started writing “A Tale of Renown: Volume One”  in 2017 after watching Lord of the Rings. “I thought there were some really cool Bible stories that could be really epic if adapted into movies,” Chijioke says. “At the time, my impression was that the best way to get a fantasy-esque story on screen was to first author a bestselling book.” In 2022, Chijioke decided that his story as a novel manuscript was better suited in illustrations and began adapting it into a graphic novel. The book is now available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other book retailers.

ABOUT THE BOOK

KRONEN, the champion of his small village, is always ready to put others before himself and rush to the aid of the needy. It's no wonder then that when his wedding is interrupted with news that a neighboring village has been attacked by invading savages, he departs with his sister and village rival to investigate and stop the threat before it can spread any further. On their journey to save their fellow kinsmen, Kronen discovers that he has a dark power deep within... one that places his existence in his homeland into jeopardy and challenges his sense of self. Set in the time of a young Earth before the Great Flood and drawing from elements of the Greek Titanomachy and the Book of Enoch, A TALE OF RENOWN: VOLUME ONE is the first installment to a beautifully illustrated cross-over tale.

A Tale of Renown is a great read for fans of mythology who appreciate stories filled with action and lore. Readers will see old stories reimagined and familiar characters shown in a way they have never seen before. “We don't see too many Black fantasy writers, and we don't see too many Black fantasy graphic novels,”  Chijioke says. “Readers who become attracted to my work will find an author with an eclectic background who is committed to telling an epic story for years to come.”

Published February 7, 2023, by Smashed Studios, it is available on Amazon  (note: this will be linked when uploaded to the Amazon link) and other book retailers.
