The AGC (Association of General Contractors) of Georgia announced award winners at their annual convention held June 13-16 in Ponte Vedra, Florida. McKenney’s was recognized in the Specialty Contractor category for their Grady Memorial Hospital Flood Recovery Effort project.
The project involved managing the renovation of two flooded floors of the hospital which had received significant damage when a 24-inch water pipe burst. The restoration work needed to be accomplished without affecting the rest of the hospital. The team divided the work into smaller, more manageable projects and used advanced modeling technologies offsite to simplify work onsite. Strict safety protocols were implemented for the protection of staff, patients, and work crews during the Covid-19 pandemic. McKenney’s partnered with general contractor, DPR Construction, and TLC Engineering Solutions® on this project. The hospital was restored to full capacity three weeks ahead of schedule, and there were no safety incidents.
