While barre has its roots in ballet, no prior dance experience is required, and this class is appropriate for people of all fitness levels. Their barre lesson comprises low impact/high repetition motions with minor isometric exercises to sculpt the client’s arms, abdominals, and legs and alternates between standing at the barre and mat-based exercises. With time to spare, Lunch at the Barre and Barre Express sessions are available. However, they are condensed into a 45-minute session.
Lumo Yoga & Barre Yoga Philadelphia enables clients to explore awareness and mindfulness, increase strength, and explore the possibilities of moving with their breath in their all-level Flow classes. The Yoga studio is cool, and classes are set to music with familiar songs on the playlists. Yoga Sculpt is a dynamic workout that mixes traditional yoga sequences with cardio and strength training. With the name “Sculpt Jawn,” they couldn’t help but have given their version a Philly twist. Sculpt Jawn takes both yoga and barre sessions to the next level, adding hand weights, cardio workouts, and the odd dance party to familiar exercises before cooling down with a yoga flow. Each instructor has their own approach, and all of their students will be motivated and challenged. Additionally, weights are always an option, and there will always be opportunities to pump it up or scale it down.
Furthermore, Pilates is an excellent modality for just getting started with a fitness routine and having no prior fitness expertise. Pilates focuses on core strength and stability, good alignment, and flexibility and is a profoundly calming experience for all bodies. The majority of classes simply use a mat for cushioning and support, but some may include a ball, ring, or weights. The Lumos Yoga & Barre – Philadelphia Yoga Studio, on the other hand, is the only studio in Philadelphia’s Fairmount neighborhood that offers mats during the pilates classes. All skill levels are welcome, and there are always tweaks and possibilities available.
Prenatal classes at Lumos Yoga & Barre last 45 minutes and are followed by 15 minutes of friendly group conversation incorporating restorative and energetic postures, emphasizing breath and self-awareness.
