Heatwaves continue to cause Chaos across Europe

Environmental surveys are just one action that we can take to reduce and minimise the effects of climate change.

The UK is currently experiencing the hottest year on record, demonstrating that climate change is no longer a question of if, but of when. While temperatures have cooled slightly, experts predict that this is the new normal.

Millions of people struggled with temperatures of over 40 degrees Celsius (104 Fahrenheit) as it resulted in various wildfires that began across the UK. London declared a state of emergency due to the large number of fires and the toll they took on emergency services. Meanwhile, Kent and Sussex have recently been placed on a hosepipe pan to ensure that there is enough water for everyone for the summer period, only confirming what scientists have been predicting for a while this is the new normal and unless we begin to act it’s only going to get worse.

As the UK, along with the rest of Europe, continue to feel the high temperatures which are set to return in August, this is only emphasizing scientists predictions. However, this is indicating that climate change is happening quicker than expected. Nevertheless, there are still things that we can do to slow the effects and help reverse it.

Biodiversity refers to the variety of life on earth. To put it simply, biodiversity can also refer to all the species found in a particular region or ecosystem. It includes plants, bacteria, animals, and humans. In order to slow down the effects of climate change, then we need to protect biodiversity an easy way to do this is through environmental surveys.

Whilst Climate change is considered an important issue it is often overlooked for “human issues” such as population growth and the need for more housing, quick farming which can be detrimental to the environment and cheap manufacturing (plastics etc). A simple way to stop the destruction of many habitats and to protect the areas of greenery that currently is exist is through environmental surveys.

Commercial developers are now including environmental surveys as vital step in their process due to the rising popularity of environmental consulting services. The surveys are used to make sure that the land they are developing on doesn’t impact the existing ecology. This could be an ecological survey, an arboricultural survey, a landscape survey, or even an endangered species survey. These surveys will identify any locations that need to be preserved or the necessary measures for safely modifying the landscape.

Governments across the world have pledged to help fight climate change through various legislation. Many are trying to minimise carbon footprints, and some have protected certain species by law. However, as the weather is constantly shifting it is vital that we look after the environment in all forms to ensure that the environment isn’t shifting too often and too much. Environmental surveys are just one action that we can take to reduce and minimise the effects of climate change.
