Fridge Art Fair Miami Art Week 2021

Welcome to the Wild West | Miami Art Week in Allapattah

Pet Friendly Fridge Art Fair 2021 hosted by Esquina de Abuela

Oct. 20, 2021 / PRZen / NEW YORK — Fridge Art Fair is pleased to announce its 8th edition, hosted in the city’s vibrant, urban cultural district; Allapattah. In partnership with the Fair’s host, Esquina de Abuela, the pet friendly event will be hosted at 2705 NW 22nd Ave, Miami, FL. Fair Dates are November 29-December 4th 2021.  Information will be posted at fridgeartfair.com

Last year, the Fridge Family suffered a staggering loss, with the untimely passing of co-founder and Miami director Cara Hunter Viera, a pioneer and champion of all things art. Her leadership, savvy, and unflappable presence are missed. In her honor, we have planned an inspired show. Information will be posted on fridgeartfair.com. (There will be dogs!). Eric Ginsburg, founder of the Fridge Art Fair, said, “She was not just the driving force behind Fridge Miami, she was my best friend. Cara, we thought of letting it all go, but instead dedicate this edition to you, because you would never let us quit.”

The fair’s Miami location, Esquina de Abuela (EDA), is an urban community center in Allapattah. The eclectic space, founded by Fabian Martinez, is a neighborhood staple where local and international artists are housed free of charge so they can come together to create, perform, exhibit their work, and give back to the community.

EDA is the physical legacy of Zoila Caridad Guerra, a revolutionary, turned contra-revolutionary, who fought to against Cuba’s oppressive regimes. Zoila showed the same love and devotion to her home, that was then re-inspired by her grandson Fabian; in her honor. The power and resilience of her spirit remain an inspiration to all who visit.

“We want to see artists bloom to their full potential…Everyone who walks through our doors is treated with love and respect. We want every person who comes to EDA to become the best version of themselves by growing together.” — esquinadeabuela.com

Fridge Art Fair is back with its original challenge as tagline — “Can You Fit Into The Fridge? “At the inaugural NYC edition in 2013, this was a literal dare – the fair carved out tiny individual spaces within the intimate and actual first LES gallery, Kazuko Miyamoto’s onetwentyeight for a small group of exhibiting artists, and the creative problem solving was noticed. In a new decade the mission is still to be a not-for-profit boutique presenter of eclectic art in tandem with the Frieze Week in NYC and Art Basel Miami, while adopting a novel approach to space and structure, often collaborative and never commercial. The site, currently being updated, will soon have more information at fridgeartfair.com
