HOUSTON, TX – Currux Vision LLC (“Currux Vision” or “CV”), a leading AI ITS company, today announced the successful pilot of its traffic signal technology with the Austin Transportation Department (ATD) to test traffic management capabilities and assist with its Vision Zero initiatives.
CV ITS technology uses computer vision to identify and classify objects in the roadway, whether pedestrians, bicycles, cars or busses, integrating with ATD’s existing infrastructure including cameras and controllers. Using only a small server placed in the TMC or the traffic cabinet, the technology tested in Austin included live data transfers to the traffic management center or equipped servers to detect pedestrians in crosswalks, wrong way drivers, stopped vehicles in intersections and near-miss collisions. The information can be used to adjust traffic signals in real time to provide longer green or red signal lights to avoid crashes, improve traffic flow or provide aggregated data to improve systemic traffic issues. The technology does not detect or record personally identifiable information.
