AnniPuf is family owned by 9-year-old Annika Mayon who is a driving force of the company which she owns along with her 39-year-old Mother, Kitty. Annika is the creative of the company and put forth its name whose ending stands for Pretty Unicorn Food. There is no Unicorn magic behind the scenes of this mother and child driven company, rather the hard work, experience and expertise that comes with a black mother raising 5 half-Hispanic children in a world learning diversity and embracing difference.
Kitty Mayon, who does the grunt work for this family-owned enterprise explains the impetus for the concept. “As a mother of 5 children who keep me running, my sensitive skin was often being ignored. To save money and know my ingredients, I have been making all organic skin remedies, lotions, creams, and ointments for myself for years. I decided to feature the best of the best of my handcrafted remedies which I have made over time and combine them with my kids kawii (cute) characters. This was the birth of the AnniPuf brand and the birth of our product line.”
In 2016 family run AnniPuf brand began selling organic cotton candy, sugar scrubs, skin healing creams, organic deodorants along with a soap collection. Since its inception AnniPuf has added wealth building tools along with self-love products. These products include daily affirmation decks, such as the KID BOSS Everyday Affirmation Deck as well as self-love products which include KID BOSS Self-Love Reminder Stickers.
Cute, appealing, and educational the goal of the AnniPuf is to cater to Black, Hispanic and other children in families of color who reside in inner cities and underserved communities. Mrs. Mayon explains this part of the AnniPuf mission as, “We are a mixed-race family and we wanted to create a family brand that showcases a successful family unit. We want all our products to be fun, engaging, and educational. We want the children who use our products to have fun, learn confidence while sharing wealth building tools with their family members and others throughout their communities. The Anni P.U.F. Kids range in age from 6month to 9 years so each character can relate to a wide range of children and family.”
