The American Lifeguard and Safety Training™ is a trademark of the American Lifeguard Association health and safety courses since 1990.

American Lifeguard Association has a respectable reputation all over the country and has featured in national news to offer their opinions and suggestions on water safety. Numerous newspapers, magazines, and national TV news often quote them for educating the public on the awareness of water safety and aquatic environmental issues. ALA has also worked with national agencies such as the American Chemistry Council and US Consumer Product Safety Commission to help make the aquatic environments safer for everyone.

The American Lifeguard Association is one of a few national certifying agencies for lifeguards. The US Labor Department has determined that ALA offers lifeguard training programs similar to and equivalent to the American Red Cross.

American Lifeguard Association focuses on public awareness for recognizing their responsibility in aquatic environmental issues to make the world a cleaner and safer place to live in. “The world we live in is a responsibility of us all, and we are trying to bring it to your attention through our lifeguard training to preserve the aquatic environment”, Said Bernard J. Fisher II, Director of Health and Safety. “ALA is working passionately on environmental issues to raise awareness to keep our beaches and waterways cleaner for ourselves and our future generations”, added Fisher.

American Lifeguards Association training programs do not make the candidate wait for a group to gather to start their training. ALA lifeguard training programs are independent of place and number of trainees. Their lifeguard training programs can be taken anywhere in the world and are utilized by individuals, schools, universities, and community pools in the United States and abroad.
