Air and Missile Defence Radar System Market COVID-19 Impact, Regional Outlook, Growth Potential, Competitive Analysis, Share & Forecast-2027

Air and Missile Defence Radar System Market Overview

Global AMDR market was USD 12.3 billion in the year 2021. This value is projected to reach USD 17.6 billion in the year 2027. The AMDR market is estimated to grow at the compound annual growth rate or a CAGR of 6.5% in 2022-2027.

Air and Missile Defence Radar System is a next-generation integrated radar system capable of providing defence against ballistic missiles and other airborne hostile elements such as combat aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles and others. Radar is an essential part of the air defence system because it detects intrusion into the airspace, and this system has revolutionised the concept of air defence.

Growing disputes over territories between countries and threats of invasions have spurred the countries to bolster their air defence capabilities. This is an important growth driver for the AMDR market. Rapid development and deployment of advanced missile systems is creating a parallel demand for AMDR systems to counter the threat. The rise in the usage of UAVs such as drones to invade other countries’ airspaces is also leading countries to invest in advanced air defence systems, thereby boosting the growth of the AMDR market. The limited client base of AMDR systems due to the low financial capabilities of most countries to invest in such expensive military systems is a major restraining factor for this market. Moreover, the high involvement of government bodies and regulations also negatively impact the growth of this market.

Market Segmentation :

The global AMDR market is divided into ground-based, naval-based, and airborne based on the platform. The airborne platform segment is projected to register the highest growth in the forecast period. This is because of the rapid growth in aerial fleets such as combat aircraft, bomber aircrafts, surveillance aircraft and more. Increasing usage of UAVs is also bolstering the growth of the airborne segment.

On the basis of range, the global AMDR market is divided into long-range, medium-range and short-range. The long-range segment dominates the market due to increasing numbers of long-range ballistic missiles and fighter jets, necessitating the adoption of comparable countermeasures.

On the basis of application, the global AMDR market is divided into conventional and ballistic missile defence. The missile defence segment is expected to dominate the market in the forecast period. This is mainly due to high investments by India, China, Russia, the USA and North Korea to develop advanced missile systems.

Regional Segmentation

On the basis of geography, the global AMDR market is divided into North America, Asia Pacific, Europe, the Middle East and Africa and the Rest of the World.

The Asia Pacific region is projected to grow by more than 7% in the forecast period. This is due to increasing investments, especially by India and China, in strengthening air defence systems. However, North America leads in terms of market share due to many major manufacturers in the region.

Industry News :
