Lithcote Europe has developed Lithocide®, a virucidal, bactericidal and fungicidal coating. This product, applied the same way as a varnish, has the particularity of destroying viruses and bacteria that come in contact with treated surfaces.

The effectiveness of this product against COVID-19 was validated in a laboratory of the University of Liege. Their tests demonstrated that 99.99% of the COVID-19 viruses were destroyed in less than one hour after contact with the protected surface.

Lithocide® acts as a waterproofing agent that can be used on metal, plastic, glass, concrete or textiles. It can be applied in different ways (brush, roller, sprayer, etc.). The resulting surface treatment is thin (less than 10 microns), transparent, flexible, very resistant and, most importantly, it remains active for many years. In addition to its antimicrobial characteristics, the use of Lithocide® renders treated surfaces more resistant to wear and scratches. Lithocide® therefore increases the durability of products protected with this coating.

Applications for the Maintenance and Industrial Sector

Lithocide® can be used in two categories: maintenance of existing structures and industrial manufacturing. In terms of maintenance, the aim is to protect buildings, equipment and objects. Multiple surfaces can be treated to protect public and professional spaces: desks, chairs, counters, door handles, stair railings, ATM keyboards, touch screens, subway bars, elevator shafts, etc.On the industrial side, several European companies are exploring with Lithcote the possibilities of integrating Lithocide® into their products. An automotive supplier, a wallpaper manufacturer and a street furniture manufacturer are already in the industrial prototyping phase.

Marketing in North America

Lithcote has commissioned Interforce Marketing to establish and lead a network of distributors in North America. Interforce Marketing will also be responsible for developing relationships with manufacturers who wish to explore the possibility of incorporating Lithocide® into their products.

A New Technology for a Significant Societal Impact

This technology is based on functional nanoceramics chemically linked to a polymer network. It is a water-based product. The treatment of surfaces has been proven to be very economical. Lithocide has the potential to revolutionize several fields of activity such as transportation, the pharmaceutical sector, hospitals, but also objects used on a daily basis.
