The Money Will Help Fund a Clean Water Project in Guatemala

SUSSEX, Wis. – December 2, 2020 – (Newswire.com)

CannedWater4Kids (CW4K) is proud to support a water project that will help villages in the Ixil Triangle of Guatemala obtain sustainable, running potable water. When complete, this project will serve 40 families and more than 160 children.

“COVID-19 has had an impact on all of us. Guatemala is one country that has been hit extremely hard, with many villages in urgent need of safe, potable water,” said Marissa Jablonski, CW4K Board member and mentor to UWM’s Student Chapter of Engineers Without Borders. “EWB at UWM is committed to delivering sustainable solutions that enable healthier lives.”

The project will include a conveyance line from the natural mountain spring to a distribution tank and also three distribution lines providing water to 40 homes with approximately six people per home – this is 160 children. There is no current water system providing water to the community and they are very excited to work with local NGOs, ACCMARI and Engineers Without Borders at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee to build their new distribution and sanitation system.

With the pandemic we all face today, access to potable water is more prevalent than ever. Imagine not having a sink to wash hands in to feel safe, clean water to drink to keep healthy or water to wash clothes in to remove germs.

“It is always hard to imagine what it would be like without clean, safe water,” said Greg Stromberg, CW4K founder and CEO. “We hope that our donation will help restore and improve the lives of children and families in the communities served by this project.”
