Rising Star in Automotive Retail: Joseph Pompo of The Fuccillo Automotive Group

Joseph Pompo is the Chief Operations Officer (COO) of The Fuccillo Automotive Group, one of America’s largest automotive retailers. He was recently labeled as one of Automotive News’s 40 under 40, and we’re here to discover why.

Pompo isn’t your average retail car dealer. For starters, he has a background in accounting, which helped him expose a high-scale fraud scheme from a third-party agency, which in turn earned him millions of dollars in the subsequent settlement.

After obtaining a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 2011, Pompo went on to get an MBA, which he successfully obtained in 2012. Shortly afterwards, he was hired by PwC. By 2014, he had moved back to Syracuse and was working at his family’s company.

When he found out that The Fuccillo Automotive Group was looking for a director of taxation and finance, Pompo leaped at the chance of a new opportunity. Today, he is the COO of the company. And while he may have only a few years of experience in the industry, he’s already taking the company to new heights.

His expertise is combining his extremely advanced analytical skills and his ability to effectively implement new processes through effective communication. This clearly shows when Pompo & Fuccillo work to develop specific incentive programs for each brand the group sells.

For instance, when the Kia Telluride launched in 2019, they created a special lease offer that focused on converting Range Rover and Lexus owners into Kia Telluride customers — and it worked! It is that type of bold and confident approach which has earned Pompo a reputation as one of the great young minds in the automotive industry today.

To Pompo, it all comes down to treating customers the way they want to be treated. He credits this rule for the company’s staggering increase in profits. Deciding to center the company’s relationship with their new third-party agency on training, income development and compliance, Pompo managed to increase profits per vehicle by 56%.

When Pompo gets featured in podcasts and sales-based speeches, he emphasizes the importance of understanding how each customer wants to be treated, and then tailoring the sales technique accordingly.

With 26 different locations, The Fuccillo Automotive Group functions primarily in New York with 3 stores in Florida. During the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the business was hit hard, urging Pompo to create an incentive program to boost staff morale.

Fuccillo’s biggest markets are in New York: Albany, Syracuse, Buffalo and in Florida: Tampa; Clearwater. You can find the complete list of The Fuccillo Automotive Group’s locations at https://www.fuccillo.com/fuccillo-locations.htm

Apart from having a successful career in the automotive industry, Pompo is also a husband and father to two children, one of which has over 8,000 followers on Instagram! Check out her profile at @booslilworld

As for Pompo’s own social media presence, his business Instagram account @huge_fuccillo_deals has over 6,000 followers, while his personal account @joe_pompo has over 3,000 followers.
