Bexley Dental Explains the Factors Affecting All on 4 Cost in New Blog Post

Bexley Dental, a dental practice in Bexley, NSW, Australia, has recently published a blog post designed to help people make an informed decision on their all-on-4 dental implant procedure by examining the factors that influence the cost of such a treatment. The three factors that can affect the cost and the outcome of the procedure are: the right education of the dentist to maximise the patient’s comfort and the longevity of the implant; the appropriate materials for a durable, natural-looking implant; and the dentist’s range of experience with regards to implant procedures.

Rachel Stevens, business manager at Bexley Dental, says, “No matter where you chose to have your All on 4 procedure performed, as long as you know the right questions to ask, and are comfortable with your dentist’s answers, you can minimise your risks and ensure a worthwhile investment in you dental health. If you follow the questions and guidelines discussed in the blog post, you should have no trouble finding the right dentist to perform your implant surgery, and avoid painful problems down the road.”

With regards to the dentist’s education, there are two ways for them to be trained on how to perform dental implants. They can take a short course that may run several days or they can take an intensive postgraduate course that includes courses on clinical, theoretical and practical education, and a broad range of first-hand case experience. For the short course, although it can qualify a dentist to perform dental implants, there is barely enough time to cover the material, which means they tend to focus on the basic techniques and what is often left out is treatment planning.

In treatment planning, all of the factors that can affect the implant procedure are examined. These include: the spacing of the teeth; how their position could impact or interfere with the implant; the patient’s gum health; jaw conformation and space for the implant; critical structures and nerves in relation to the ideal placement of the implant; location and depth of sinus cavities in relation to the necessary implant; bone structure and quality; and type of implant to ensure secure, comfortable results.

Thus, it is a good idea to find out if the dentist has taken the full course of study that includes treatment planning. This can be done by asking them where and when they took their implant education and how long the course was, Googling the school or course provider, and taking a look at their website and checking the dental implant all-on-4 related courses.

With regards to the materials used for the dental implant, it is a good idea to ask the dentist who manufactures their implants and crowns, and where they are made. It is important to ensure that the dentist is using reputable brands, such as Nobel Biocare, Astratech, and Biomet i3. All of these manufacturers operate globally and have been observed to comply with Australian quality and safety regulations.

And finally, with regards to experience, which is the most important checkpoint, a patient may consider between a general family dentist who can perform implants occasionally or an implant expert who is focused on implant procedures and oral surgeries. While the expert may appear to be a bit more costly than the general dentist, they may cost less in the long run if the job is performed right the first time. Thus, it may be a good idea to ask prospective dentists how many implants they install each year, and how long they have been practising implant dentistry.
