Altibase fortifies its international presence via a partnership with a major Turkish ISV

Leading provider of Enterprise Grade Open Source Database/DBMS, Altibase, enters into a strategic partnership with Ziraat Yatirim to consolidate the company’s global presence

Altibase recently partnered with Ziraat Yatirim, a major Turkish securities firm, as part of the company’s goal of strengthening its international presence. The deal was sealed in February 2020, with the Turkish firm opting to adopt Altibase for its online trading system.

James Jang, CEO of Altibase, says that the deal epitomizes a strategy a non-legacy database vendor should take to penetrate and succeed in the international market. “To tap into the overseas markets requires a great deal of efforts and capital expenditures for non-legacy software vendors particularly when their brand awareness is low. Although Altibase is well known and its product stability and maturity are second to none in the APAC market, its presence in the western hemisphere has been minimal,” James said. “Rather than DIYs, working with local partners is a most effective and cost-efficient way to succeed in overseas markets particularly as database business has a very long sales cycle,” he continued.

ATP, an Altibase’s local partner in Turkey, originated the deal and executed PoCs and BMTs. The PoCs and BMTs were executed via remote online support of Altibase experts. ATP, which is a subsidiary of Ata Holding of Turkey, is a leading technology solutions provider in Turkey, with several clients from the enterprises in the finance and hospitality industries in Turkey and EMEA.

Over the years, Altibase has demonstrated the willingness to nurture overseas partners through online training and knowledge transfer. In a similar vein, the company recently revamped its website to make it more user-friendly and informative, with more content for users. Also, Altibase provides on-site training for international value-added-sellers who are incentivized by revenue split in their favor.

The ATP deal is a product of long-term relationship and mutual support between Altibase and its partner and is expected to lead to more deals in the EMEA market,” James Jang said.

Since it started operations in 1999, Altibase has served over 650 enterprise clients, including 9 Fortune Global 500 companies in the international database market.
