Tina Knowles spoke with members of the media at the 2025 Angel Ball GALA, which took place on Monday, October 27th at Cipriani Wall Street in Manhattan.

The event was hosted by co-founders, songwriter Denise Rich and her daughters Daniella Rich Kilstock and Ilona Rich Schachter. This star-studded event raised $3 million for cancer research.

The Angel Ball honors outstanding individuals that have made significant humanitarian and philanthropic contributions to cancer research.

First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt once said: “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” This quote applies to Tina Knowles.

While the world knows her as the mother of global music stars Beyoncé and Solange, she is an internationally-recognized businesswoman, fashion designer, “Matriarch” book author, and philanthropist.

Ms. Knowles, a breast cancer survivor, was recognized for her dedication to philanthropy and for raising awareness for cancer research.

Background on Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation for Cancer Research

Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation for Cancer Research funds the best and brightest early career scientists whose research focuses on finding less toxic treatments for patients with leukemia, lymphoma, and related blood cancers.

Since its inception in 1996, the Foundation has funded more than $45 million dollars in grants making it one of the largest non-governmental sources of grant support for blood cancer research in the nation. On average, 88 cents of every dollar raised directly funds research.

For more than two decades, the Foundation has honored Gabrielle’s legacy by funding the boldest, most cutting-edge ideas in cancer research.

Knowles on being recognized at the 2025 Angel Ball

“Being here tonight means the world to me,” Knowles admitted. “The research and the development that comes with the funds that they raise for this is impressive. Denise Rich has been amazing and so diligent about raising funds and getting the best doctors and the best researchers.”

“I had a bout with breast cancer last year, and I just thank God for organizations like this,” Knowles acknowledged. “This organization is just so important. It definitely means the world to me, especially to be here this year, for sure.”

“My good friend, the late Debbie Cohen, was the one that got me here, along with Lorraine Schwartz,” Knowles revealed.

“It is such a fun evening, but it is also so important because without research and development where would we be? Where would I be? That saved my life,” Knowles explained.

“Early detection and organizations such as this are key,” she underscored. “This is the biggest honor I can have right now!”

Knowles defines success

On her definition of the word success, Knowles expressed, “Success means a lot of things: it means being able to do what you love, live your life, having your family and friends, and to know the importance of those things, first and foremost. That’s success to me.”
