Review: A taste of Italian and American cuisine at West Bank Cafe in New York City

On Monday, December 23rd, this journalist had the chance to dine at West Bank Cafe in New York City for dinner, which is also home to the Laurie Beechman Theatre.

On Monday, December 23rd, this journalist had the chance to dine at West Bank Cafe in New York City for dinner, which is also home to the Laurie Beechman Theatre. It has an ideal location, situated in the heart of Times Square.

The West Bank Cafe first opened its doors back in 1978, and last year, Emmy and Tony-nominated Broadway producers Tom and Michael D’Angora took over its ownership.

Appetizers

One’s culinary journey at West Bank Cafe begins with its hors d’oeuvres. Their “Risotto Balls” have been a staple for decades at this eatery. They consist of wild mushroom dusted in Parmesan cheese and served with a side of their truffle aioli sauce.

An equally delectable appetizer is their “Prosciutto Dusted Deviled Eggs,” which is comprised of four eggs half-sprinkled with Prosciutto, which is a healthy treat.

Side dish

As a side dish, one cannot go wrong with their “Caesar Salad,” which contains their homemade sourdough garlic croutons.

Entrées

“Organic Free Range Roast Chicken” is a noteworthy main course, especially for poultry lovers.

The roasted chicken breast and thighs were crispy, accompanied with mashed potatoes, Haricot verts (green beans), roasted carrots and a hearty chicken jus that was quite juicy. This dish alone is worth the visit to West Bank Cafe!

Their “Shrimp Scampi,” featuring five jumbo shrimps over spaghetti and drizzled in a decadent wine and butter sauce, was delicate, garlicky, and buttery.

Dessert

At West Bank Cafe, one should leave some room for dessert. Their “Tiramisu” was a fitting choice for a dessert due to its creamy and velvety texture.

The Verdict

Overall, West Bank Cafe is a warm and pleasant restaurant in Manhattan. The service is swift, and the wait staff are courteous and professional. Everybody at this eatery deserves to be commended for their tremendous hospitality.

The atmosphere is lively and vibrant, and it has a retro vibe of vintage Broadway.

West Bank Cafe is the quintessential place for patrons to enjoy dinner and a show in Manhattan, and it is recommended for the whole family. It garners an A rating. Bravo.
