Porn Convention Titilates Kinky Gadget Fans

Digital Journal — Sex and tech slip into bed together in an orgy for the naughty public, taking place in Las Vegas until Sunday. While the 2007 AVN Adult Entertainment Expo features a Playboy mansion’s worth of skin-flick stars, it’s commitment to erotica gadgetry is also proudly on display.

The porn industry’s version of the Consumer Electronics Show doesn’t mind showing off what people keep in their closets. And what this Expo shows is not for those who blush easily, or for those who think sex toys should remain a bedroom kink.

One of the 340 exhibitors is the bluntly titled FuckingMachines.com, which produces elaborate robotic dildo technology. With a tagline “Sex at 350 rpm,” it’s hard not to notice a booth featuring machines called The Drilldo and The Double Crane.

Internet-enabled toys were also a big presence at the Expo, including the Japanese company Segment. You can have real-time cybersex with your lover, and also control the speed and intensity of each other’s toys. Perfect for that long-distance relationship that doesn’t want to end anytime soon.

Even more intriguing is Boditalk, a vibrator that gets going when you take a call on your cellphone. The site says it vibrates to the rhythm of your favourite tunes, so happy-hardcore techno will probably have the ladies enjoying a very, um, up-tempo experience.

As one Digital Journal user has already pointed out, there are even glasses designed for people who want to watch porn in public. At the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo, everything is possible and nothing is taboo.

Plus, there are some strangely named goodies available for the frisky-minded: Titty Tops, ID Lubricants, Best Whip and Tongue Joy, to name a few. Even a full-fledged brothel from Nevada — the Chicken Ranch Brothel — is making sure its ladies make the rounds at the Expo.

It’s the one time of year when sex gadgets get their time in the spotlight, even if they’ll continue to remain in the dark for the remaining 51 weeks of the year.
