A Books has had a
successful 18 months with its Canadian site and now intends to
capitalize on the demand for technical books in the United States.
“The increased U.S. traffic on OA’s Canadian e-commerce bookstore
has proven there is a huge demand for a solid e-commerce technical
bookstore”, says Kevin W. Peebles, OA’s Director of Communications. “The
launching of the American site will make it easier for consumers in the
U.S. to buy from the O A Group and allow them to capitalize on the
current exchange rate differential – using US Currency”.
The new bookstore also functions as a live real-world demo of OA
Soft’s top-of-line e-commerce package that processes orders online in
real-time via a secure server; “We are taking our state-of-the-art e-
commerce site and our reputation for customer service south of the
border to the United States”, states Joseph Wu, O A Groups’ Vice-
President of software development, “where we believe there is a very
strong demand for customer focused online technologies like our e-
commerce software suite”.
O A Books has been operating in Canada since January of 1999 and
has been growing steadily with a doubling of year over year revenues. O
A Books has built a very strong customer retention rate, with nearly 50%
of customers returning for additional purchases. As part of its
marketing plan O A Books is also launching a new referral program with
the site that will allow customers to earn credits for referring friends
to the site. A strong advertising campaign for the new site is being
